What drew you to a career at Cyara originally and how has the company changed since?
Earlier in my career I worked at an amazing company. We were growing like crazy and had a GREAT culture, which means we attracted the best talent in the industry – had the time of my life! 20 years later, a dear friend from that company landed at Cyara. She called me and said, “Ernie, I’ve finally found another one!” I applied immediately. These companies are rare. I’ve only been here a few months, but that’s exactly how it feels. What does a typical day look like for you and what are you currently working on?
Zoom, zoom, zoom! In these remote work days, it’s grab a coffee, get on a Zoom. Grab a salad, get on a Zoom. But they are calls I enjoy – where I’m invited to add value, where we laugh a lot, challenge one another and are focused on delivering customer value and taking care of one another.
Tell us about your work life harmony at Cyara?
I lead a team of 10 highly talented sales pros, who also happen to be good-hearted people. Together, we make sure we’re talking to potential customers who are serious about improving the customer experience. If they are, we’re usually the right solution – so we listen and probe and put together a proposal to meet their needs.

How would you describe the culture at Cyara?
I would describe it as ‘a priority.’ It’s 100% evident that our C-Suite is determined to create and maintain a great culture. They work at it and talk about it all the time. A great culture means you recruit and retain great folks, who deliver excellent service and solutions to customers, so the company grows and the cycle continues: great people + happy customers = revenue growth… over and over.
What has been the most empowering moment in your Cyara career journey?
In my 2nd week, I had an employee issue that needed attention. I made a surprising recommendation for someone in his 2nd week on the job; but I was confident it was the right decision. Up and down the chain, I immediately got support. It was foreshadowing of the independence I’d be given to ‘do the job.’
What are you passionate about in your role?
I really love my team! They are smart, dedicated, hardworking and fun. I love talking with them, supporting them and helping them achieve their professional goals.
How does Cyara help support your sense of purpose in your career?
I’m 52; I’ve been around the block and had lots of successes and failures. I’m pretty confident at this point in life about what I want out of work. I want to enjoy my work and laugh a lot throughout the day, help advance the company’s goals, help people meet their personal goals, and make a lot of money. I can do those things here, so I’m happy.
What have you gained from working at Cyara from a career perspective?
I have enjoyed watching the C-Suite navigate taking care of people whilst also being laser focused on growth. It’s so easy to veer too far into one of these lanes; Cyara are driving right down the middle – ensuring we grow and ensuring we bring the whole team, happily, along the journey.

How has Cyara’s global approach to diversity helped you in your career so far?
I’m gay. Seeing our entire Exec team, and many employees, choose the company’s (optional) Pride Zoom background during Pride month was affirming. I don’t wear my sexuality on my sleeve – I am a Sales Leader who happens to be gay. I don’t need or want special attention; it’s a non-issue. Even so, it’s the small gestures of inclusion that are highly meaningful.
