What drew you to a career at Cyara originally and how has the company changed since?
Cyara is a company doing some very interesting development in customer experience monitoring and testing. Being a rapidly growing company at the forefront of its area, there are opportunities to grow and become a leader if that’s what you desire. You’re empowered to be creative and to add your own personal touch to whatever it is you look at doing.
What does a typical day look like for you and what are you currently working on?
Being a Front-end Developer, I spend much of my day creating what the customer sees and experiences when using our products. I might spend time with Product Owners and the UX team working out the best way to present an application, but I also have plenty of time to concentrate on the technical side of my role which is something I personally love. I am currently working on a product that is just about to go to market, and we are taking it from beta to release. It’s an exciting time for the team and the company.
Tell us about your work life harmony at Cyara?
My job is completely remote with my team spread across 3 states and 2 countries. Even so, once we are out of lockdown, there is space for me at the office if I need it or if I just want to spend some time with work colleagues. Working hours are quite flexible which allows me to spend time with my family and support them. The company is very supportive of any personal needs I might have, and actively encourage their employees to look after their personal wellbeing.
Describe your current role at Cyara?
I am a Front-end Developer specialising in Angular. I work with a team with diverse skillsets that allows me exposure to many other technologies. There are plenty of opportunities for me to get involved in other areas of development if that were something I would like to do.
How would you describe the culture at Cyara?
Family and employee wellbeing is a focus at Cyara. There’s a lot of emphasis on providing opportunities to develop relationships with the whole company, not just the people in your team, something that has been challenging in these COVID times. Be it talking about pets or cooking, taking part in meditation sessions, or being involved in regular Hackathons, there are many ways you can connect with the others within the company, even remotely. The whole company is accessible and welcoming both here in Australia and overseas. The organisation structure is very flat, and there’s a real sense of equality – all pulling towards a common goal.
What has been the most empowering moment in your Cyara career journey?
Being given the freedom to carry out my role in the way I want, but also having the support of a great team, manager, and company so I feel comfortable and confident.
What are you passionate about in your role?
Personally, I love quality thinking and best practice. It’s something that I look to improve every day. I also really enjoy looking for innovative solutions to problems; something that I have plenty of scope to do in my role. I have always enjoyed feeling a sense of ownership for the product I work on, Cyara is giving me the opportunity to create something I can feel proud of.
How does Cyara help support your sense of purpose in your career?
Cyara gives me a lot of freedom in the job I do. They encourage and desire employee input and ideas.
What have you gained from working at Cyara from a career perspective?
I’m empowered to do the job I enjoy, and I feel valued as an important member of the team.
